First Flight of                    Xawk 5 UAS, S/N 002

On May 24th, 2012, Xipiter IPT had a successful first flight under manual control of S/N 002 of its Xawk 5 class UAS. The aircraft will compete at the AUVSI Student UAS competition June 13-16 at NAS Patuxent River, MD.

Team Xipiter is a multi-disciplinary team encompassing aerospace, computer, electrical, industrial engineering and computer science.

Xipiter’s purpose is to produce small scale unmanned aerial systems (UAS) capable of performing realistic surveillance missions. Competing since 2003, each year the team has brought an increasingly capable system to the table.
